Hi, beautiful souls!
It's currently at the office, sipping on some chamomile tea (I swear, it's my lifeblood!) and wondering how I can make your day a smidge brighter.
I've currently been diving deep into herbalism and have taken a step back to approach my studies differently. Instead of learning about so many herbs at once, I'm going to be tackling one at a time, and learning all aspects of it thoroughly. My current study?
So, I thought we could dive into this current fave of botanical wonders. A bloom that's as gorgeous as it is potent. Calendula!
Now, if you're sitting there thinking, "Cale-what-now?" Don't worry, you're not alone. Calendula, or Calendula officinalis if we're getting all scientific, is also known as pot marigold. But don't confuse it with the marigolds you're used to seeing in your grandma's garden; this is a totally different species.
So why am I, a 30-year-old entrepreneur and nature-loving mama, gushing about this golden flower? Well, it's simple. Calendula is an absolute gem when it comes to natural wellness.
We've got research showing that calendula is a natural anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antiviral powerhouse. This sunny little flower packs a real punch against bugs and boo-boos. It's been used for centuries to soothe everything from diaper rash to minor cuts and burns.
One study I stumbled upon recently (in the International Journal of Oncology, for my fellow research nerds out there) even suggested that calendula has some serious potential in the world of cancer treatment. And while we're not saying it's a cure, we are saying it's pretty damn impressive for a humble garden flower.
When it comes to skincare, calendula is the stuff of dreams. It's been known to soothe and hydrate dry skin, minimize the appearance of wrinkles, and even alleviate symptoms of eczema and dermatitis. This flower has been in the game long before the beauty industry discovered it, and for good reason!
I personally love mixing a few drops of calendula-infused oil into my skincare routine. Not only does it feel like a mini spa moment at the end of a busy mama day, but it also leaves my skin glowing and oh-so-soft. I'm currently infusing a huge batch of calendula into olive oil which I'll be using in my upcoming facial oil and healing salve! Stay tuned :)
All this being said, remember to always do a patch test before slathering any new product all over. We're all unique, just like our skin types, so what works for one might not work for all.
Well, that's it for today's calendula love-fest, beautiful people. I hope it's inspired you to give this little gold flower a whirl. Until next time, keep shining your light.
With all my love, Adina
